New Delhi: Once again, the fuel prices on Friday hiked for the consecutive 13th day in a row by the oil marketing companies. Both the prices of petrol and diesel have been hiked by over Rs 7 in the past 13 days of revision by oil marketing companies (OMCs).
As per the data from oil marketing companies, the petrol and diesel prices have increased by 56 and 63 paise per litre respectively in the national capital, New Delhi, compared with the previous day’s rates.
The prices of petrol were hiked to Rs 78.37 per litre whereas the rates of diesel were increased to Rs 77.06 a litre in New Delhi. In Mumbai, petrol price has been increased to Rs 85.21 per litre while diesel is retailing at Rs 74.93.
The pink city Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan has the highest retail price for petrol at Rs 85.58 per litre. Besides this, the petrol is being sold at over Rs 80 per litre in other cities of the country like Kolkata, Patna, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
It needs to be mentioned that the residents of pink city ‘Jaipur’ are also paying the highest rate of Rs 78.09 per litre for diesel across the country. The second-highest price of diesel price is in the national capital New Delhi, where the masses are buying at over Rs 77 per litre.
The fuel prices have been increased across the country and vary from state to state depending on the incidence of local sales tax or a value-added tax (VAT).
The daily revision in fuel price has come after a gap of 82-day due to the coronavirus lockdown since June 7 this year. the hike in fuel price has faced criticism from not only public but also opposition leaders. Recently, Congress chairpersons Sonia Gandhi had written a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged him to roll back the hike in fuel prices.
