Former Indian ambassador Veena Sikri has reacted to the strained relations between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindoor. In an interview on Tuesday, she said that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has no real authority and power to take decisions. She clearly said that the reins of power in Pakistan are now in the hands of the hardline military chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir. He has established himself as the real power center there.
Veena Sikri’s comment was in the context of Operation Sindoor launched by India in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. Let us tell you that, in this action of India, more than 100 terrorists living in Pakistan were killed, including Masood Azhar’s family. After this action of the Indian Army, the Pakistani Army took a controversial step and announced a plan to repair these camps. Apart from this, the Shahbaz government announced that the families of the terrorists killed during the operation will be given a compensation of Rs 1 crore. He further said that financial assistance is reportedly being done through recent funding received from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, leading one of the all-party delegations on Operation Sindoor global outreach mission, has asserted in Panama City that though the leaders come from different political backgrounds, they all stand “united in national purpose”.
Addressing the Panama assembly President Dana Castaneda and some select parliamentarians, Shashi Tharoor asserted that India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 only after it waited to see whether the Pakistani government would take any action against the perpetrators of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
