New Delhi: Hearing the petition filed in regards to Air Quality crises, the SC was informed the constitution of an enforcement task force and flying squads to monitor compliance of guidelines issued to the Kejriwal govt. The Centre reports to have engaged 17 flying squads on Thursday to carry out an inspection as per the norms given by the SC. Further, it added to engage 40 flying squads in the coming 24 hours. The SC was informed that the centre has conducted 25 surprise checks in a day.
While hearing the case today, the SC slammed the statement issued by Advocate Ranjit Kumar appearing for UP govt, when he argued that the polluted air travelled southwards from Pakistan affecting the air quality in Delhi.
The apex court on Thursday had issued a stern notice to the Delhi Govt and ordered an immediate plan from them to revert the air crises. It had warned strict actions against the administrations on failure of submission of its plan. Citing the detection of Omicron in India the SC permitted the construction in COVID dedicated hospital to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure to combat unforeseen conditions.
Delhi has been battling severe air quality crises since a month now. The national capital slipped into the severe zone again on Thursday with the slow wind speed accumulating pollutants.
