Imphal: According to the flood report from Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the flood situation in Bajali is worst as nearly 2.60 lakh people have been affected in the district. In total, the floods in the state have affected 4.96 lakh people in 22 districts. One person died in Tamulpur after drowning in flood waters.
77702 people were affected in Nalbari, 65221 people were affected in Barpeta, 25613 people were affected in Lakhimpur, 24023 in Baksa, 19208 in Tamulpur, 13704 in Darrang, 6538 in Kokrajhar district. The flood waters have submerged 14091.90 hectares of cropland in flood hit-district.
Meanwhile, 238 tourist vehicles and over 20 trucks camped at Chungthang ground. Along with their drivers who refused to leave their vehicles behind. Amid the heavy rainfall, Indian Army continues rescue operations near Chungthang in North Sikkim after tourists were stranded due to landslide triggered by heavy rain.
Troops of the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army and the personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) swung into action and worked overnight in Chungthang. The created a makeshift crossing over the flash flood area to facilitate the rescue of tourists.
