New Delhi: The Ministry of Civil Aviation scrapped restrictions on the number of flights to and fro Ukraine arranging travel for citizens stuck in the former Soviet state that might witness an invasion from their nuclear power rich neighbours, Russia which has been mustering troops along its borders. Ministry stated that any number of flights, as well as charter flights, can operate owing to the demand.
MoCA (Ministry of Civil Aviation) has removed the restriction on the number of flights and seats between India and Ukraine in Air Bubble arrangement. Any number of flights as well as Charter flights can operate. Indian airlines have been informed to mount the flights due to an increase in demand. MoCA is facilitating in coordination with MEA,- the statement read.
Currently, Ukraine International Airlines, Air Arabia, Fly Dubai and Qatar Airways are operating from Ukraine. The ministry had decided to add several more flights in future the statement added.
The number of flights plying to Ukraine increased after Indians from the crisis-hit region had informed that several amongst them were not able to book a flight due to non-availability. Students shared that several of them didn’t have their permits, which barred them from leaving the nation temporarily.
On Tuesday, India had informed all its citizens, especially students to leave Ukraine temporarily citing the untoward situations.
“Transport Bubbles” or “Air Travel Arrangements” are temporary arrangements between two countries aimed at restarting commercial passenger services when regular international flights are suspended as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
