Uttar Pradesh: Anand Giri a disciple of Mahant Narendra Giri and two others have been taken into custody after information about their connection with the ABAP president surfaced. It is also reported than an FIR has been filed against Anand Giri and the others. They have been reportedly booked under IPC Section 306 (Abatement of Suicide).
According to a notice issued by the ABAP, the mortal remains of the Narendra Giri would be kept for public darshan at 11:30 am today at the Baghambari Math.
On Monday evening, Narendra Giri head of the Akhil Bharatiya Akahada Parishad-the largest religious body of the saints in the country in UP’s, Pragyaraj town was found dead in his room. A purported 12-page suicide was discovered from the site that stated that he was mentally distributed and wanted to end his life. Based on which the police officials had announced to conduct a probe into the suicide committed by the head. “Information was received that the President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri died by suicide. The disciples told the police that around 3-4 pm, they broke the door which was locked from inside and found him hanging,” UP ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar quoted.
PM Modi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath and several other political leaders took to their Twitter handle and expressed grief over the loss and extended condolences to his followers. Mahant Narendra Giri was a highly influential personality and several politicians from all affiliations would visit him in Pragyaraj.
