Dundigal: On Monday the Indian Air Force (IAF) was hit with an incident as two pilots tragically lost their lives in a trainer aircraft crash during a routine training session, at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Telangana. This heartbreaking incident claimed the lives of both an instructor and a promising cadet.

The unfortunate event occurred during a morning training sortie when the fated Pilatus PC 7 Mk II trainer aircraft crashed, resulting in injuries for both pilots on board. The IAF confirmed this through a statement. Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister expressed his condolences on X stating, “I am deeply saddened by this accident near Hyderabad. It is truly disheartening to hear that two pilots have lost their lives. During this time my thoughts are with their grieving families.”

Thankfully no reports of casualties or property damage have emerged. Now the focus shifts to investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. A Court of Inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of this accident.

Losing personnel while carrying out their duties is always a moment for both our armed forces and our nation as a whole. The IAF and the broader defense community mourns the demise of these two individuals who were wholeheartedly devoted to honing their skills, for our nation’s security.
