A jathha of 101 farmers of Haryana that is organised under the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) led by Sarwan Singh Pandher is to start its journey to Delhi from the Shambhu border on Saturday. Coming to the protest it has been 307 days long, trying to mark its perseverance as a concern as the farmers do not want the central government to ignore them and their demands anymore.
Leaders of the farming camp insisted on its support across the country and invited citizens to join the farm workers’ struggle. Telling a news agency, Pandher denounced PM Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for not giving a voice on the issue. He said they intentionally avoided the protest and had not paid attention to the farmers’ concerns.
Pandher practised the complaint of specific Bio diversity from particular Members of Parliament from BJP, saying, “The Union Agriculture Minister has not discussed the protest, and some of the factions from BJP are polarizing the communities. Our government agencies are also doing their best to make sure that ‘morcha’ will not be successful, and they have been striving hard to demonstrate that even if Punjab and Haryana combine, they will never subdue the protest.”
Farmers want to prove that citizens collectively can have a say in the management of the country’s affairs and legislation. Pandher insisted that the protest was not only for farmers’ rights but also a representation of the public engagement towards a better society.
Although the protest is given a short break, the farmers want to meet with the centre’s government — this is why they continue their struggle to be heard. Their members’ march to Delhi demonstrates their persistence, as well as the global fight for justice and change, primarily in the farming industry.
