New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Wednesday permitted farmers to hold Kisan Sansad against the Central laws at Jantar Mantar from today onwards till August 9 between 11 am and 5 pm.
The Delhi Disaster Management team has issued a fresh set of guidelines to follow during their meeting to prevent the spread of the virus at scale.
Nearly 200 farmers from the Sanyukt Dal Morcha and 6 from the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committees arrived by bus from the Singhu border to Parliament. The participants of the protest have been instructed to carry ID cards and are strictly monitored by the Delhi Police to avoid any violent events.
Nearly 2,500 Delhi Police officials and 3,000 paramilitary forces have been deployed at the Singhu border. Apart from this anti-riot force, water cannons and tear gas have been kept on standby to prevent the anti-social incident at the protest. Additionally, seven police stations in the vicinity of the protest have been directed to keep alert and informed about the events of Kisan Sansad. At Singhu, the police have implemented concrete measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
It is also reported that the Congress MPs and Former President Rahul Gandhi also stood in protest at the Parliament House. Additionally it is also informed that the Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has agreed to speak to the famers and resolve the issues.
The farmers have been protesting against the three newly enacted Farm laws since November 26 last year. They demand the Centre to amend the laws in benefit of the farmers.
