New Delhi: After the meeting of BJP leaders Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda with leaders of Haryana, Rajasthan and western Uttar Pradesh on Monday; Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of protesting farmer unions announced the rail blockade in support of annulling the legislation.

The kisan union has decided to conduct a four-hour nationwide Morcha ‘Rail Roko’ today from 12 noon to 4pm. Ahead of this event, Darshan Pal, leader of SKM said “It is clear that instead of resolving the ongoing struggle (on farmers’ demands), the BJP is trying its best to counter and destroy it (movement).”

He further added that the SKM castigated the attitude of the ruling party and demanded the government to resolve the long running grievous issues of the farmers. They have vowed to intensify the agitation and mobilise more farmers in their support.

The famers clamour to repeal the three central laws which were levied last year, asserted that these legislations would prone them to exploitation from corporates.

In the wake of such a protest; Director-General Railway Protection Force, Arun Kumar has ordered the deployment of 20,000 additional RPSF across Punjab, Haryana, WB and UP. “We want to persuade them to not cause inconvenience for passengers. We have a four-hour window and we want it (rail roko) to get over peacefully,” Kumar said.
