Srinagar: Two terrorists were trapped in the cordon when an encounter broke out in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday morning. The encounter started between the security forces and the terrorists in Chermag village of Zainapora area of Shopian district, South Kashmir.
Kashmir Police confirmed the encounter through a tweet.
“A joint team of Police, Indian army, and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Chermag village on specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area. The operation started in the wee hours”, said the police officer monitoring the operations.
This is the 15th encounter of this year. Security forces have managed to kill 25 terrorists; including three top commanders and 8 Pakistani terrorists. Earlier on 22 January 2022, two local militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter at Shopia district in South Kashmir.
