Indian Election Commission (EC) stated on Monday that it is performing well in having the highest seizure of monetary inducements ever in Lok Sabha elections. Police have taken as high as ₹4,650 crore even at the start of the Voters’ turn, the largest amount of cash seized by authorities in all the phases combined. This figure is almost more than double the ₹3,475 crores recorded for the past fiscal year, which ran to cover the 2019 general elections, according to a press note taken out on the ICA’s website.

The Election Commission affirmed its continued resolutely to its outlined mandate of overseeing the deterrence of inducements and eradicating electoral malpractices, ensuring a levelled playing field for middle and smaller parties. One important point about the relation of 45% of drug seizures originating from illegal drugs, which is of greatest interest to the Post, is the Commission for Customs. The seizures used total planning strategies, more coordination, enhanced deterrence actions coordinated by agencies, collaborative effort from citizens and optimal use of technology.

Through the commission, state-wise distribution of forfeited inducements was reported simultaneously. The state of Rajasthan gets awarded by leaking ₹778 crore, above Gujarat coming with ₹605 crore, and Maharashtra with approximately ₹431 crore.

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar, in his last month’s announcement, criticized the four major factors, including money, muscle power, misinformation, and violation of the Model Code of Conduct, which brought remarkable change in the effect of the constituencies on the electoral process.

According to the statement given by the commission on the 8th of January, there are concerns about the growing use of black money. It can now give a competitive edge to more resourceful applicants in a particular region with no (or not enough) checks and balances.

As the Election Commission’s head notes this business forms the foundation of this body’s efforts directed to the aim of having an election to the Lok Sabha rewarding fair, uninfluenced usage of the voters’ will and free of any corruption.
