New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today launched search operations at over three dozens of locations in multiple states, amid deepening probe in Delhi Excise Policy case. Raids are being carried in multiple cities including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. The liquor policy case has been at the center of the political standoff between Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Admi Party (AAP).
This is the second round of being conducted by the central agency as earlier on September 6 searches were conducted at 45 locations across the nation. ED case of money laundering stems from a CBI FIR wherein Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and some bureaucrats have been accused. The excise policy has been rolled back now.
Earlier, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena had recommended a CBI probe in the matter and following his recommendation, the agency launched massive search operations. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been under the radar of probe agencies and Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had even alleged attempts to topple the elected government in the national capital.
