Tamil Nadu: An earthquake of 5.1 measurements on the Richter scale was reported on the Bay of Bengal today at 12.35 pm. As per reports from the National Centre for Seismology, the depth of the quake was 10 kms and it originated 320 kms east of Chennai.

The tweet by the National Centre of Seismology says, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 5.1, Occurred on 24-08-2021, 12:35:50 IST, Lat: 14.40 and Long: 82.91, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 296 km SSE of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India”.

Meanwhile, several people from Tamil Nadu, Chennai, and Andhra have experienced tremors. They have taken to social media to share their experiences. No casualties have been reported yet. Further details are awaited.
