New Delhi: During the session in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister expressed his concern about the violent incidents in Manipur that tragically resulted in 152 lives lost since May 3. He sincerely acknowledged how distressing these episodes were for him personally. However, he voiced his disappointment over the politicization of events.
Shah concurred with the opposition regarding the scale of violence. Emphasized that it deeply troubles the government. He highlighted how these occurrences not tarnish our nation’s reputation but also raise questions about our values. While addressing these issues is crucial, exploiting them for gain is more disconcerting.
Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP who recently visited Manipur Shah criticized him for creating drama by insisting on travelling by road of opting for a recommended helicopter ride. Shah remarked that Gandhi wasted hours on this spectacle only to eventually take a helicopter ride the day. According to Shah, making a decision earlier would have been preferable.
Addressing another concerning matter arising from the region Shah condemned a video showing the mistreatment of two women during the violence. He assured everyone that those responsible had been identified and apprehended.
Moreover, Shah expressed his support for Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh, commending his collaboration with the government. Emphasizing the decrease in acts of violence over time, he stated, “The statistics clearly demonstrate a decline, in incidents. It is essential that we come together to promote peace of exacerbating the situation.”
