New Delhi: After turning up informally at the farmers’ protest site near the Delhi border on December 5, the Punjabi actor/singer Diljit Dosanjh has donated Rs. 1 crore to the protesting farmers and asked them to purchase winter clothes.

He didn’t even make a ‘big deal’ out of the huge amount of money he donated at the protest site. No media or netizens would have known about his silent good deed had another Punjabi singer Singga not taken to his Instagram handle to reveal about the Dosanjhwala’s generous donation to offer some comfort to the protesting farmers having been spending their days and nights on the streets during the harsh Delhi winters.

Singga spoke about Diljit’s generosity in a short video that he posted on his Instagram handle. Addressing him as ‘Diljit Veere’ (Brother Diljit), Singga stated in Punjabi – “Salute you brother. You gave Rs. 1 crore for the farmers, for their warm clothes, and nobody knows. You did not post about it. Nowadays people can’t shut up after donating Rs. 10.”

After reaching the protest site at Singhu border on December 5, Dosanjh had said – “We have only 1 request to the Centre, please fulfill the demand of our farmers. Everyone is sitting here peacefully, and the entire country is supporting the farmers now”, adding – “Farmers have created history; this history will be narrated to the future generations. Farmers’ issues should not be diverted by anyone.”

Earlier in the last week, Diljit had locked horns with actress Kangna Ranaut through wrangle tweets, over the Bollywood actress’s insensitive comments on this raging issue.
