Bollywood: Veteran Superstar Dilip Kumar was hospitalized on Sunday for a routine check-up and tests following episodes of breathlessness. Kumar was admitted to the PD Hinduja Hospital in Khar, Mumbai on Sunday, was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion. 

Updating the fans regarding veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar, his doctor said that surgery was performed on Wednesday afternoon to remove the fluids from the megastar’s lungs. “The procedure was done and 350cc of fluid was removed in the presence of Dr Nitin Gokhale and me. Dilip Kumar stood the procedure well and his oxygen saturation is 100 percent. If all goes well, we shall discharge him on Thursday,” said Dr Jalil Parkar. 

 Meanwhile, Saira Banu took to social media to update everyone on Dilip Kumar’s health and urged fans not to believe in rumours surrounding her husband’s death. 

  “Past few days my beloved husband, Yousuf Khan, has been unwell and recuperating at a hospital in Mumbai. Through this note, I want to thank all of you for keeping him in your prayers and for all the love and affection. My husband, my Kohinoor, Dilip Kumar Sahab’s health is stable and doctors have assured me that he should be discharged soon,” she wrote.  

Known as Tragedy King of Bollywood, Dilip Kumar added jewels to his crown with movies like  ‘Devdas’ (1955), ‘Naya Daur’ (1957), ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ (1960), ‘Ganga Jamuna’ (1961), ‘Kranti’ (1981), and ‘Karma’ (1986).
