Bhopal: Addressing the Burqa incident in the state, DIG Bhopal, Irshad Wali said, “ No one can talk unnecessary or force anyone. So that’s why they are arrested. There is no complainant so it’s not appropriate for us to speak publicly about them.”
A video showing a group of people forcing a woman to take off her burqa floated the social media on Sunday sparking criticism. A group of people suspected that the youth on whose two-wheeler the former was riding belonged to a different faith.
According to the reports, the woman in question was riding pillion with a youngster when a group of people intercepted the duo in the Islam Nagar area of Bhopal. The mob suspected the lady was riding with a Hindu man. The clip featured her being coerced to remove her burqa even as she resisted the act. As the clip went viral, a preventive section was initiated under IPC Section 151 against the two people who forced the lady. However, no case has been lodged in the matter so far.
