Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also made a strong request on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 345th death anniversary for promoting a gross national memorial to Shivaji Maharaj, in the national capital, Delhi. Fadnavis addressed a large crowd at the event that was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar and emphasized that it is necessary to honor Shivaji’s legacy at the national level.

It is the matter of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak on the Arabian Sea. Devendra Fadnavis said they were fighting the legal battle and are sure the monument will be completed. “Despite that Shivaji Maharaj deserves more: a national memorial in Delhi taking into account his role in India’s history.”

“Shivaji Maharaj was not a political figure but a divine person, a unifier of diverse communities, who had historical and cultural importance,” he added. “Our Devta is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. If he never existed, we would not have been here today or enjoying freedom and discharging duties,” Fadnavis said. “He went on to unite the Athra Pagad Zati, which consists of 18 different castes, which later led us to have a saffron flag flying high in Delhi and throughout India.”

Shivaji Maharaj’s contributions and his last days spent at Raigad Fort, where he was also coronated, were also mentioned by Eknath Shinde. Shinde said the power of the Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj remained intact, and we are here because of him.

It is a call to observe the national memorial of Delhi to advance the stature of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the history of India and ensure that all future generations of the country recognize Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s valor, leadership, and vision.
