Delightful! Tourist Visited Chadar Trek; Experience a Walk on the Frozen River ‘Zanskar’ in Ladakh

Ladakh: Despite the dip in Mercury, a large number of tourists visited the Chadar Trek to walk on the frozen Zanskar river in Ladakh, to enjoy the chilliness of the winter, and to experience a trip filled with difficulties and delights.

During the winter season, the Zanskar River converts into ice, giving trekkers a perfect platform for trekking. The trail to the Zanskar valley is going to be a challenging yet exciting one as the ice walls are vertical cliffs, which are up to 600 m high, and the Zanskar river is narrow, approximately 5 m wide. 

Tourists visited ‘Chadar trek’ on the frozen Zanskar River in Ladakh on Thursday. The tourists come to take a look at the frozen river. The temperature in Leh is down by several notches,but this has not deterred tourists from taking the experience of a lifetime. ‘Chadar trek’ is located at an altitude of 11,400 ft, having a temperature of around minus 35 degree Celsius.

Experiencing the chilliness here, a tourist named Abhiuday, said that he has come to Chadar Trek after being recommended by his friend. “My friend recommended me to experience the trek once. I am very happy that I came here, I would have regretted it for a lifetime if I didn’t listen to him”, Abhiduay said to a media person.

It is to be noted that people who want to experience the trek need to take rest for at least 24 hours before the journey, followed by medical checkups. Only 40 to 50 trekkers are allowed each day for the trek at a time.
