New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government will begin an anti-dust campaign against pollution from today and will continue till October 29. With this, the rules related to the construction at construction sites are the most crucial ones. Non-compliance with these rules can lead to the imposition of a fine ranging from Rs 10000 to 5 lakh under the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
Sources reveal that 31 monitoring teams have been constituted for monitoring the campaign. Out of these, 17 teams of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) have been deployed and the rest 14 teams are of the Green Marshals. These teams shall carry out surveillance work in various areas through mobile vans.
A show-cause notice will be issued to the institution or concerned person in case of any negligence witnessed anywhere. However, if the pollution continues, DPCC will take the decision to stop construction work in the city.
According to the Council of Energy, Environment, and Water, Delhi’s air quality in winter 2020 was worse than winter 2019 with 92 severe and very poor air quality days in winter 2020. In lieu of this, Delhi Environment Minister Shri Gopal Rai launched the ‘Advanced Green War Room’ and ‘Green Delhi App’ on Tuesday for people to file their complaints pertaining to 10 kinds of pollution in Delhi throughout the winter season. Efforts will be taken to rectify the problem mentioned in the complaint from the Green War Room.
