Delhi CM Kejriwal on Friday at a DDMA meeting announced the relaxation of COVID curbs in the National Capital from 31st May onwards. This development came after the state’s health bulletin reported continuous drop-in new infections.
Beginning Monday, factories and construction activities in the national capital have been permitted to resume work.
Delhi has been under lockdown since April 19 when the health authorities recorded a sudden surge in COVID cases. Last week, the lockdown in Delhi was extended till May 31. “This lockdown will last till Monday, 5 am. We will begin the unlocking process. Construction activities and factories will be reopened from Monday keeping the daily wage workers in mind,” Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced, adding, “Positivity rate has come down to 1.5 percent.”
Delhi on Friday logged around 1,072 new COVID cases in the past 24 hours. Citing the drop in COVID cases, Arvind Kejriwal urged people to not go out of their houses unless absolutely necessary.
On Wednesday, the CM said the lockdown cannot be extended indefinitely as economic activity is going down and people are losing their work.
