New Delhi: Schools in the capital have been scheduled to resume offline schooling from September 1st for classes 9 -12 and from September 8th for Class 6-8 announced Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday.
The decision came at the recent meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management (DDMA) team held earlier during the day. An expert committee established by the DDMA asserted phased resuming of schools.
The panel submitted a report on Wednesday suggesting that students from senior classes should resume offline classes in the first phase followed by high school students and ultimately the primary students. The panel also assured the continuation of online classes and stated that it is the state doesn’t mandate offline classes.
Schools across the nation were shut down abruptly in March 2020 when the pandemic commenced. As the COVID curve descended several states routed to resuming physical schooling in October last year. Delhi planned to open schools only for higher secondary kids, which were again suspended following resurgence during the second wave.
