New Delhi: On Friday, Delhi Police summoned the head priest of Dasna Devi temple in UP for hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims with his remarks on the Prophet. Last week, during a press conference in Delhi, the priest Yati Narsinghanand allegedly made inflammatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad and Islam.
A video of the event went viral where Narsinghanand said, “If Muslims come to know about Muhammad’s reality, they will be ashamed to call themselves Muslims”. The remarks created a rage among the Muslim communities in India.
Amanatullah Khan, AAP MLA and Chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board filed a complaint against the priest at the Jamia Nagar police station. The complaint said, “Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati who happens to be the chief priest of Devi Mandir, Dasna, leader of Hindutva organization, Hindu Swabhiman and president of Akhil Bhartiya Sant Parishad with all his knowledge and intention, has hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community, not only in India but all over the world who love and idolize Prophet Muhammad(PBUH)”.
This is not the first time that Yati Narsinghanand has hit the headlines. The priest and the temple were in news in March as a disciple of the priest assaulted a 14-year-old Muslim boy for trying to enter the temple premises.
