New Delhi: Despite being marked as a no fly zone an airborne drone was noticed conducting flight operations above Prime Minister Narendra Modis’ residential premises in Delhi on Monday. The incident prompted the Special Protection Group (SPG), responsible for the PM’s close security, to alert the Delhi Police around 5:30 am on Monday morning.
According to the Delhi Police, they received information at their control room regarding an unidentified flying object in the vicinity of the Prime Minister’s residence. In response, extensive searches were conducted in the surrounding areas, but no such object was detected. Additionally, the air traffic control room (ATC) was contacted, and they confirmed that no flying object had been detected near the PM’s residence.
An inquiry into the subject matter is being carried out by the Delhi Police with regards to establishing both the identity and intentions of the individual operating the drone. This occurrence has prompted apprehension about potential security breaches and highlighted the urgent need for heightened precautions in safeguarding esteemed locations notably those deemed as no fly zones.
Efforts will be exerted by authorities with utmost dedication to identify any potential threats, thereby initiating appropriate actions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in future. Safeguarding both, Prime Minister’s security and that of other essential government officials, remains an unyielding priority, consequently warranting reinforcement of existing security protocols surrounding the PM’s residence.
