DELHI: India has shown the rapid growth of coronavirus cases in recent days. With the recent cases, the Delhi government has asked four hotels that have been near to the COVID-19 hospitals to admit the patients dealing with the coronavirus. The list of hotels that have received the orders is French multinational hospitality chain Accor’s Pullman hotel in Delhi’s AeroCity, Hyatt’s Andaz Hotel and Pride Plaza Hotel in AeroCity besides Vasant Continental.
The notice has been passed from the office of sub-divisional magistrate Vasant Vihar. The notice said that the hospitals are instructed to admit the patients dealing with the novel coronavirus and the hospitals are required to link with the following hotels. The hotels shall function according to the hospitals. The hotels have been ordered to isolate all rooms where the coronavirus patients would be accommodated. Also, if by any circumstances, the hotels have denied or charged with something fishy, they would be charged under Disaster Management Act 2006 read in conjunction with Epidemic disease Act 1897 and penal provisions of 188 of IPC.
The hotel Vasant Continental would isolate 117 rooms and would be immediately connected to Indian Spinal Injuries Centres hospital. The orders were approved by the District Magistrate of New Delhi. As per the notice, all the facilities such as, housekeeping, disinfection, getting foods for the COVID-19 patients, ambulances for transfer facilities and bio-medical waste disposal would be regulated by the hotels. The hoteliers would be provided with the protective gears along with the adequate training facilities. The same would be available for the hospital staff as well.
Although CII has previously said that the hotels were not well equipped for dealing with the COVID-19 patients, it has shared an alternative model for treatment of the patients with the government.
Currently, Delhi has 22212 active cases of the novel coronavirus. Around 1214 deaths have been reported so far.
