Today, the Delhi High Court has ruled that Sanjay Singh, a Member of Parliament and Minister from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), will remain in jail until October 27. This decision comes after the High Court agreed to listen to Singhs’ plea against his arrest about a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy.

Sanjay Singh, who is 51 years old, was taken into custody after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided his premises regarding the money laundering case connected to the Delhi excise policy on October 4. He now becomes the AAP leader to face arrest in connection with this case.

On October 5, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi had ordered Singh to stay in ED custody until October 10. Sanjay Singh’s arrest is significant as it follows the arrest of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with the Delhi excise policy scandal.

During court proceedings, Special Public Prosecutor Naveen Matta, representing the investigating agency, revealed that they had uncovered transactions amounting to Rs 2 crore in two instalments. During a telephone conversation with Singh, Dinesh Arora, an associate to AAP leader Manish Sisodia, confirmed that he had received this sum. Matta also mentioned to the court that they had conducted searches and raids at 239 places, including Singhs’ residence, as part of the investigation into the case.

The detention of Sanjay Singh brings up concerns. Raises questions about the alleged misconduct related to the Delhi excise policy and how it may impact political figures associated with the AAP.
