NEW DELHI: The Delhi Court on Friday reserved its order on the bail plea of former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. The court will now pronounce its order on March 31 in the excise policy case lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“A brief written submission on behalf of CBI has been filed in opposition to the regular bail application of the accused. A copy thereof as well as case law has been given to the counsel of the accused. Copy of part of case diary and statements of some witnesses have been also made available,” Special Judge M K Nagpal said while reserving its order.
The judge on Tuesday had deferred the order of the plea for any further clarification and submissions. The Judge sent Sisodia to jail till April 5 after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) produced him on the conclusion of his custodial interrogation in the matter. On Monday, the CBI, too, had opposed his bail plea and told a court that a “person is a saint till the time his illegalities are discovered”.
Sisodia has been questioned for seven days by the CBI since being arrested on February 26th. Sisodia was arrested in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.
The Enforcement Directorate arrested Sisodia on March 9 evening in Tihar jail, where he was lodged in connection with the case being probed by the CBI.
