NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Friday extended the custody of Former Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia for 5 days as the ED sought a week more to investigate the allegations against him in connection to the Liquor Policy case.
The defense argued that the ED questioned Sisodiaonly for 30 minutes to 1 hour daily and did not need to keep him in jail any longer. The ED in response shot back saying ‘that’s because in CBIs case, he complained of mental harassment’. The agency alleged that Sisodia had changed his number multiple times, which led to a loss of Rs 1.38 crore.
The ED on Thursday slapped fresh charges agaisnt the No 2 AAP leader underscoring involvment in corruption in Delhi Govt’ Feedback Unit. Subsequently, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi planned to “slap several false cases” against AAP leader Manish Sisodia to keep him in jail for long.
Sisodia has been in jail for a fortnight now. He was arrested by CBI on February 26 in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.
