January 20 marks the 354th birth anniversary of the 10th and final Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. On this occasion, the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in New Delhi has lit up beautifully. Also, devotees have been visiting the Gurudwara maintaining all the COVID-19 protocols since the celebrations have begun to mark Guru Gobind Singh’s birth anniversary.
Reportedly, devotees have been maintaining all the COVID-19 norms while visiting the Gurudwara to offer their prayers. The Gurudwara authority has also kept on strict vigilance so that the norms are maintained properly amidst the celebration during this pandemic situation.
On being asked about this, the Head Priest of Shri Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, Baba Ji Ranjit Singh stated – “We have been following the COVID-19 norms from 20 March. We installed sanitizer machines and no one is allowed to come without a mask inside the Gurudwara premises”.
Many devotees have come across the states to visit the Gurudwara and take part in the celebration which marks the ‘Parkash Purab’ of the 10th Sikh Guru. “Arrangements are good here, we have been directed to wear a mask and maintain social distancing”, said a devote, who has come from Punjab to experience the celebration. The visitor asserted that people come to visit the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara from across the country. According to another devotee – “We pray to god that the virus ends soon and 2021 brings happiness along”.
Notably, Guru Gobind Singh (born as Gobind Rai), the 10th and last Sikh Guru was born in Patna Sahib, Bihar. After the martyrdom of his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji (the 9th Sikh Guru), he was enthroned at the ‘Guru Gaddi’ when he was 9, later named Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
