New Delhi: It’s a case of rash and negligent driving, Rahul Sharma SP Sonipat said investigating Deep Sidhu’s accident. the Punjab actor-turned socialist succumbed to death while he was going from Delhi to Bhatinda in Punjab. The hospital authorities claimed the actor was bought dead while the lady accompanying him was alive.
The truck driver involved in the accident has been absconding and the lookout for him is initiated, Sharma added. An FIR under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been lodged. According to the actors family, the truck driver applied brakes suddenly, which resulted in the road accident claiming Sidhu’s life.
Punjab actor turned activist died in a road accident at Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) last night. According to the police, Reena Rai, the actors’ friend also accompanied him last night. She, however, suffered minor injuries as the airbag didn’t burst as it did for Sidhu. Reports state she sat on the left side of the vehicle, which didn’t suffer a major collision.
Deep Sidhu was arrested by Delhi Police in R-Day violence last year. He was now out on bail. He got bail in April but was arrested again just after he was released. He was released on bail a second time in late April, with a court in Delhi making it clear he has to appear for questioning whenever the police called him.
The Delhi Police claimed he instigated farmers not to follow the permitted route of the Kisan parade and breach barricades with tractors at the Red-Fort on 26th January. The farmers were protesting against three (now repealed) farm laws.
