Udaipur: On the second day of the Chintin Shivir being held at Udaipur on Saturday, the Congress has announced its plans for SCs and OBCs in the upcoming elections. The party seems to have been brainstorming on reviving its flagging electoral fortunes. It announces to raise the representation quota of the above-said minority castes to a minimum of 50 per cent at all levels of the organization.
Organizational reforms will be introduced in the party for social justice and empowerment, leader K Raju said while listing the decisions taken by the party chiefs.
Meanwhile, P Chidambaram former finance minister and senior leader of the party demanded that the Centre should extend the GST compensation for three years asserting that the state’s fiscal position is fragile as never before and this needs urgent remedial measures.
Under the GST law, states were guaranteed to be compensated bi-monthly for any loss of revenue in the first five years of GST implementation from July 1 2017.
