Dabur Group Chairman Mohit V. Burman and Director Gaurav V. Burman find themselves named in an FIR related to the Mahadev betting app case, along with Bollywood actor Sahil Khan and 28 others. However, Dabur issued an official statement rejecting this information, calling it a potential mischievous act with malicious intent.
In response to the allegations, the statement reads, “We categorically deny the allegations and firmly believe that a thorough investigation will vindicate our position and demonstrate the unfounded nature of these allegations.”
Social worker Prakash Bankar initiated the complaint, accusing the Mahadev betting app of defrauding thousands of people of over ₹15,000 crore. The FIR was registered on November 7, invoking various sections of the Indian Penal Code, IT Act, and the Gambling Act.
The Mumbai Police are currently investigating the Mahadev betting app scam, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing the illegal betting app syndicate. Earlier, the ED had conducted raids on Mahadev Book in Chhattisgarh, leading to blocking orders against 22 illegal betting platforms, including Mahadev, as requested by the ED.
The Mahadev app’s owners are in custody, arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) for alleged money laundering. The ED’s investigation revealed a “startling allegation” of ₹508 crore being paid to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel by Mahadev app promoters.
The Mahadev app, operating through franchised “Panel/Branches,” faces scrutiny for its profit-sharing practices. The investigation is ongoing, shedding light on the intricate web of illegal betting activities and potential financial irregularities associated with the app.
