Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned today about a cyclone likely to be formed over the Bay of Bengal on May 9. The possible cyclonic storm will be named as Cyclone Mocha and is likely to develop over Southeast Bay of Bengal around 6 May, 2023.
In lieu of the cyclonic formation, IMD issued a series of tweet to warn about the upcoming cyclone.
The cyclonic circulation is predicted to concentrate into a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal on May and thereafter intensify into a storm moving northwards. As unseasonal rains are lashing parts of northwest India, conditions are becoming favorable for formation of the fit cyclone of 2023.
In view of the cyclone, the department has also predicted very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Arunachal Prdesh on May 4 and 5 and over Assam and Meghalaya on May 4.
