Cyclone Ditwah live updates: As per the IMD, Cyclone Ditwah as of 5:30 AM was over coastal Sri Lanka and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 8 kmph.

In a recent tweet posted by IMD on X at 9AM, it wrote, “The Cyclonic Storm Ditwah [Pronunciation: Ditwah] over coastal Sri Lanka and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards with the speed of 8 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 29th November 2025 over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Sri Lanka, near latitude 9.4°N and longitude 80.7°E, about 80 km east-southeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka), 110 km north-northwest of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 190 km south-southeast of Karaikal (India), 300 km south-southeast of Puducherry (India) and 400 km south of Chennai (India).”

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu government is on alert and preparing for the disaster. CM MK Stalin held a meeting with Disaster Management Team which includes District Collectors, NDRF and SDRF teams. “I have consulted and given instructions to 14 District Collectors on precautionary measures to protect people from the effects of Cyclone Ditwah . 16 SDRF teams and 12 NDRF teams have been deployed to the districts likely to receive heavy rainfall”, wrote CM Stalin on X.

The Pondicherry Central University has postponed all exams scheduled on Saturday and a holiday has been declared for all classes because of Cyclone Ditwah, reports. A revised date of the examinations will be announced later, according to the university
