Dwarka: Cyclone Biparjoy has turned into a severe cyclonic storm as of June 11. The storm is currently located at east central Arabian Sea is moving at a speed of 5 kilometers per hour and is likely to intensify in the next 6 hours.
“VSCS Biparjoy intensified into an ESCS at 0530 IST today, about 480 km SSW of Porbandar, 530 Km SSW of Dwarka and 610 Km SSW of Naliya. To cross Saurashtra and Kutch and adjacent Pakistan coasts bw Mandwi, Gujarat, and Karachi, Pakistan around noon of 15th June VSCS”, tweeted India Meteorological Department.
Biparjoy is expected to make landfall in West Bengal, India, on June 12. The storm is likely to bring heavy rains and strong winds to the region. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for West Bengal, indicating that there is a high risk of life and property damage.
