Srinagar: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and another injured in a terrorist attack at Maisuma in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk on Monday. Both the injured personnel were taken to the SMHS hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries. In another incident, two non-local labourers were shot at and injured by militants in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.
This is the second attack by the ultras on non-locals in less than 24 hours in the district. “Terrorists opened fire on Patleshwar Kumar and Jako Chowdhary, both residents of Bihar, at Lajoora in Pulwama district this (Monday) afternoon,” the officials said. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched to track down the assailants, they said. The attack came despite the heavy presence of the CRPF check post in the area. Officials said that the security agencies are also trying to establish where the terrorists opened fire from.
On Sunday, two labourers were injured after being shot by terrorists in Pulwama. Terrorists had fired upon two labourers identified as Dheeraj Dutt and Surinder Singh, who were both residents of Pathankot in Punjab. They were shot at in the Nowpora Litter area of Pulwama. Both the labourers received gunshot injuries and were immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment, the police informed. Three days ago, a Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district. Two army personnel were also injured in the gunbattle.
