New Delhi: Today is the 351st day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. So far, India has recorded 1,12,83,311 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
A total of 1,09,35,803 citizens have recuperated from the deadly novel virus. The recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 96.96 percent. There are 1,85,664 active cases as of date, while the mortality count stands at 1,58,213 with 114 new mortalities reported. Globally, 117,332,262 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 2,605,356 deaths are reported to WHO.
Amongst the 28 states of the country, six out of them have been reported to contribute majorly to the surge. Data reveals Maharashtra recorded a substantial rise with 13,659 new COVID-19 cases, the highest count of infections since October. Concurrently, Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Gujrat report a significant rise.
The country docked into its last phase of the vaccination drive inoculating citizens above 60 years of age and those over 45 years with comorbidities. The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in India has reached 2,23,57,332, according to the Union Health Ministry. As per the data released by ICMR, 22,34,79,877 infected samples have been tested since the initiation of the pandemic.
