The cumulative   count of the infectious cases reached 1,12,229,271 after 18,650 new cases were registered under the Health Ministry. The active cases presented a rise in its graph with 1,85,886 cases altogether. As per MoHFW, the recovery rate has dropped 96.9%, whereas the mortality rate stood at 1.4%.  The 24 hours scrutinization presented a rise in the death toll to 1,57,890 with 97 new daily cases. However, a surge in the recuperations was recorded after 14,303 individuals were discharged in a single recording 1,08,80,880 treated individuals.  Globally, there have been 116,135,492 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 2,581,976 deaths, reported to WHO.  As of 8 March 2021, a total of 249,160,837 vaccine doses have been administered.

The Health Ministry inoculated 1,91,70,828 citizens under the world’s largest vaccination drive. After a dull response initially, the drive now witnesses a boost in its administration after it began its fourth phase. Some of the huge  companies of the nation like Accenture, Infosys, Reliance Industries have promised to cover the vaccination cost for their employees and dependents. Apart from Government Vaccination Centres an appreciable count of private inoculations has been recorded.

While Maharashtra continues to register the surge, Kerala’s COVID trajectory shows a rise in it its fresh cases in the past 24 hours. States like MP, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Uttarakhand report significant surge.
