New Delhi: The coronavirus case tally in India has crossed the 10 million mark on Saturday. As per the official data, India is carrying the second highest caseload in the globe. The number of newly infected populations, however, has fallen significantly. The Health Ministry has reported over 95 lakh recoveries and 1,45,136 deaths.
“The country has seen a steep rise in recoveries – from 50,000 in May to over 95 lakh in December”, said the Health Ministry on Saturday morning, adding, “Recoveries are more than 30 times the active cases (currently only 3.14% of total cases)”.
When it comes to the regular caseloads, India has witnessed its peak count almost three months back, on September 17, the day on which 98,795 new infections were recorded in a single day tally.
After that, during all these three months, the single-day case-counts have swelled for some consecutive weeks, in a few of the states, such as Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka; but, the overall caseload has been into a sharp decline despite the relaxation in restrictions followed by the number of festivals in different states.
