New Delhi: With 30,006 newly recorded cases on Saturday, the daily caseload of COVID-19 in India once again breached the 30,000 mark. The total number of discharged cases in the country has now risen to 98,26,775, with 33,494 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The death toll has mounted to 1,42,628, with 442 new deaths.
Worldwide, over 7 crore people have got infected with the deadly virus, among which, the death toll around the globe has mounted to 15.93 lakh since the beginning of the endemic.
India has the second-highest number of COVID-19 infections after the US. On Saturday morning, however, the number of active COVID-19 cases in India has dropped to 3.56 lakh, which is the lowest in the last 147 days, according to the government data.
In India, Maharashtra contributes to the overall caseload in India with the most number of cases – which is 18.72 lakh, followed by Karnataka (8.99 lakh), Andhra Pradesh (8.74 lakh), Tamil Nadu (7.96 lakh), Kerala (6.58 lakh), and Delhi (6.03 lakh).
