New Delhi: The constant increase in the number of recovered coronavirus patients has pushed India’s recovery rate amongst the COVID-19 patients to nearly 77 per cent. For the country as a whole, the recovery rate has crossed 76.9 per cent, with more than 28.39 lakh people, out of the 36.9 lakh, having recovered from Covid-19.

According to the ministry, about 65,081 patients recovered from COVID in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 28,39,882 so far.

Additionally, Number of recovered patients has overtaken the active cases by 3.61 times. Currently, the active cases stands at 7,85,996.

Delhi tops the list with 89% recovery rate, followed by Dadar and Nagar Haveli at 87.9%, Bihar at 87.6%, Tamil Nadu at 86 percent and Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 85% against the national recovery rate of 77%.

The Health Ministry today said that average daily recovered cases week wise have grown 4 times from 15 thousand in 1st week of July to 61 thousand 7 hundred in last week of August. In a tweet, the Ministry said, the steep rise in COVID19 recoveries indicates that India’s collaborative, graded and evolving response strategy has borne results.

The health ministry said that Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR) testing capacity for detecting Covid-19 cases is being ramped up continuously.  The total number of samples that have been tested up to August 31 stands at 4,33,24,834, including 10,16,920 samples tested on Monday.

Meanwhile, Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is at 1.77 per cent.In the last 24 hours, 69,921 new cases have been reported taking the total number of positive cases to 36,91,166.  In the last 24 hours,  819 deaths have also been reported taking the toll to 65,288.
