New Delhi: : As the Globe continues to grapple with the debilitating virus, India is the new hotspot in the world with over 83,000 new cases in a single day —- highest ever recorded for any country.
On Thursday morning update, India reported 83,883 fresh cases and 1043 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, the death toll has reached to 67,376 in India. According to the latest data by the Health Ministry, the total number of confirmed cases has risen to 38,53,406.
At present, there are 8,15,538 active coronavirus patients in the country. Health Ministry data showed that 29,70,492 people who had been infected with the virus have recovered so far after 68,584 reportedly cured from the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the cumulative recovery rate of India rose to 77.09 percent.
According to the latest data of the Coronavirus cases from all states, Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with 8,25,739 cases and 25,195 casualties. The other states that have seen the most number of cases includes Andra Pradesh (4,55,531 ), Tamil Nadu (4,39,959 ), Karnataka (3,61,341 ) and Uttar Pradesh (2,41,439 )
Among the death toll, the five states that reported the highest deaths in the last 24 hours are: Maharashtra (292), Karnataka (113), Punjab (109), Uttar Pradesh (74) and Andra Pradesh (72).
Meanwhile, A total of 4,55,09,380 samples were tested for Covid-19 till September 2. Of these, 11,72,179 samples were tested on Wednesday, government data shows.
As part of Unlock 4.0, metro services will resume across the country, except Maharashtra, in a graded manner between September 7 and 12, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri said Wednesday, urging commuters to follow Covid-19 restrictions and “name and shame” those violating them. India has the highest number of coronavirus cases after the US and Brazil.
Globally, over 25 million have been infected with the novel coronavirus till now. While 861,668 while succumbed to the virus, over 17 million have recovered so far.
