India on Friday recorded 90,000+ cases for the third day continuously. Caseload in the nation has arrived at 53,08,014. Loss of life has flooded past the 85,000-mark to 85,621. In the previous week, India has recorded 6,47,394 Covid cases.
However, the silver lining is India has overtaken the United States to register the highest number of Covid-19 recoveries in the world, informed Union health ministry today. The total recoveries in the country crossed 42 lakh.
The country’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, the 30-lakh mark on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and it went past 50 lakh on September 16.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a cumulative 6,24,54,254 COVID-19 samples have been tested up to September 18 — 8,81,911 of them on Friday.
The 1,247 new deaths include 440 from Maharashtra, 179 from Karnataka, 98 from Uttar Pradesh, 67 each from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, 62 from Punjab, 59 from West Bengal, 31 from Puducherry and 30 from Delhi.
The worst hit states are:

- Andhra Pradesh (6,09,558)
- Tamil Nadu (5,30,908)
- Karnataka (5,02,982)
- UP (3,42,788)
Delhi recorded 4,127 new Covid cases, taking its count to 238,000. Maharashtra recorded 21,656 news cases.
Three of the almost 30 Covid vaccine applicants in India are in advanced phases of clinical trials, while four are in pre-clinical development stage, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Friday in a composed answer to a question in Lok Sabha.
The worldwide count of Covid cases remains at 30,587,896. While 22,245,148 have recouped, 953,828 have passed on up until now. The US, the worst hit nation, 6,897,735 cases. It is followed by India, which has 5,305,387 cases, Brazil (4,466,828) and Russia (1,091,186).
