Coronavirus Update: India records 31.6 lac cases and 58,000 deaths; recovery rate nears 76%
NEW DELHI: India continues to register a spike in the number of cases With 60,975 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 31,67,323 with majorly urban cities reporting greater transmission of the deadly virus, while recoveries surpassed 24 lac pushing the recovery rate over 75.92 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
The death toll due to Covid-19 has risen to 58,390 with 848 fatalities being reported in a span of 24-hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The number of active Covid-19 cases stood at 7,04,348. While 24,04,585 people have recovered & one patient has migrated after a record 66,550 patients were cured in a day on Monday.
Maharashtra nears 7 lac mark after a record of 11,015 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours. There are 1,68,443 active patients out of 6,93,398 confirmed cases. 5,02,490 patients have been cured so far. The recovery rate of the state jumped to 72.4 percent.
The second highest increase in a single day has been reported by Andra Pradesh. The state detected 8,601 new cases taking its total count to 3,61,712. Meanwhile In overall cases, Tamil Nadu remains at second place with 5967 new cases taking its total count to 3,85,352.
On Monday, Delhi reported its highest one day spike in new Coronavirus cases in the month of August. With 1061 new infected patients the tally of Delhi stands at 1,62,567. However, the recovery rate in Delhi jumped up to 90% with 1,46,588 recoveries after 1,200 coronavirus patients cured in the last 24 hours while 11,626 still remain active.

- Tamil Nadu : 6,614
- Karnataka : 4810
- Delhi : 4,313
- Andra Pradesh : 3368
Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 tests for every million rose sharply to 26,016 as combined tests surged to 3.59 crore, the Health Ministry said on Monday underlining that a key segment in India’s COVID-19 reaction has been early recognizable identification of cases by timely and aggressive testing. The number of peoples recovering from COVID-19 has crossed 23 lakhs pushing the recovery rate to more than 75 percent, while the case fatality rate, maintaining a steady downward direction, has additionally dropped to 1.85 percent, it said.
