The country’s overall Coronavirus tally stands at 49,30,237 and 9,90,061 of them are active cases.

One silver lining for India is the fatality rate, which has now reduced to 1.64 per cent. The country’s recovery rate at over 78 per cent is also higher in comparison with other nations. However, the daily death toll in the country continues to remain above the 1,000-mark. India has been reporting 1,000-plus deaths for nearly two weeks now.
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have revealed the highest number of cases. However, diseases are rising quickly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Delhi, the national capital, is also witnessing a sharp spike over the past few weeks.
Meanwhile, The Indian Council of Medical Research has said that 5,83,12,273 samples have been tested in India for Covid-19 up to September 14. India has significantly ramped up testing over the past few months and many state governments have said this is one of the reasons behind the high number of cases being reported daily.
Latest data from the Johns Hopkins University show that there are nearly 3 crore coronavirus cases have been recorded globally and the number of deaths have crossed nine lakh. US still accounts for the highest number of cases and deaths in the world while India continues to register the highest number of daily cases.
