New Delhi: India on Thursday recorded over 86,000 Covid cases, taking its complete caseload past the 5.8-million mark. India has reported more than 1,000 deaths daily in the previous 25 days.
As many as 86,052 new COVID-19 cases and 1,141 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.
Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in India have risen to 58,18,570 and the death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic has risen to 92,290.
Reported active COVID-19 cases in India now stand at 9,70,116. As many as 47,56,164 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far, India’s COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 80.7 percent.
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 6,89,28,440 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till yesterday (September 24). A record 14.9 lakh samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country in the last 24 hours.
Total confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the world stand at 3.19 crore, according to the Reuters tracker. This figure includes COVID-19 patients who have recovered and the overall global death toll which stands at 9.77 lakh.
