New Delhi: The national capital recorded 6,608 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day taking the infection tally to over 5.17 lakh, while 118 more fatalities during the same period pushed the death count to 8,159, authorities said.

With this, Delhi recorded the second highest death toll in the past 24 hours on Saturday. The city had recorded its highest 131 single-day deaths on November 18.

These fresh coronavirus cases were detected from 62,425 tests conducted the previous day, including 23,507 RT-PCR tests, the highest till date. The positivity rate was 10.59 per cent, according to a bulletin by the Delhi health department.

Delhi’s total tally of COVID-19 cases is at 5,17,238 which includes 4,68,143 cured cases and 8,159 fatalities.

The total number of tests directed is 62425 taking the energy rate to 10.59% while the demise rate increased upto 1.58% (in light of the most recent 10 days). 

Then, the Arvind Kejriwal-drove government on Thursday had chosen to expand the quantity of RT-PCR tests directed day by day from around 18,000 to 27,000. 

The CM said that courses of action being made for more than 1,400 ICU beds, incorporating 663 in Delhi govt medical clinics and 750 at Center-run offices. 

Though the fine for not wearing covers has been raised from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000. Kejriwal also engaged every single ideological group, social associations to disperse veils at public spots in Delhi.
