India: The number of COVID-19 cases reported in India in a span of 24 hours dropped below 40,000 for the seventh time this month, taking the infection tally to 94.31 lakh, while the recoveries surged to 88,47,600, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data updated on Monday.
The total coronavirus cases mounted to 94,31,691 with 38,772 new infections, while the death toll climbed to 1,37,139 after 443 more fatalities were reported, the data updated at 8 am showed. 45,333 new discharges in last 24 hours which took the overall recoveries to 88,47,600.
COVID-19 infections are still rising in 64 countries. There have been at least 62,293,000 reported infections and 1,454,000 reported deaths caused by the new coronavirus so far.
Here are the five most-affected states:
> Maharashtra -18,20,059 cases
> Karnataka – 8,83,899 cases
> Andhra Pradesh – 8,67,683 cases
> Tamil Nadu – 7,80,505 cases
> Kerala – 5,99,600 cases
According to ICMR, 8,76,173 COVID-19 samples were tested yesterday, taking the total number of tests conducted are 14,03,79,976.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Sunday reported a total 13,142,997 cases of new coronavirus, an increase of 143,333 from its previous count, and said the number of deaths had risen by 1,210 to 265,166.
