INDIA: With 1,336 fresh coronavirus cases and 47 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, the death toll has reached 590 in India. According to the latest data by the Health Ministry, the total number of confirmed cases has risen to 18,601. And at present, there are 14,759 active coronavirus patients in the country. Health Ministry data showed that 3251 people who had been infected with the virus have recovered.

In the latest health briefing on Monday, Dr Raman R Gangakhedkar, the head of Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases at Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that 80 out of 100 infected people do not show any symptoms.

The Union health ministry has issued guidelines to be followed on detection of suspect or confirmed Covid-19 cases in non-coronavirus health facilities and said hospitals located in proximity or catering to Covid-19 containment zones should treat all patients as suspect cases until proven otherwise. The move comes after a few hospitals closed down following the detection of the disease among its medical workers.

According to the latest data of the Coronavirus cases from all states, Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with 4666 cases and 232 casualties. The other states that have seen the most number of cases include Delhi (2081),Gujarat (1939), Rajasthan (1576), Tamil Nadu (1520), Madhya Pradesh (1485), Uttar Pradesh (1184) and Telangana (873).
